A one-woman band will be bringing the contemporary music style of folk-pop to Bridport.
Singer and songwriter Maryen Cairns is touring across the UK this July. Her first stop is at The Ropemakers pub in Bridport where she will play original songs from her 30-year repertoire.
Maryen aims to offer a form of escapism for listeners through the power of allegorical folk-pop. This genre refers to contemporary folk songs with large, sweeping pop arrangements, or pop songs with intimate, acoustic-based folk.
Her musical career took off from her backup vocal work on Fish’s Internal Exile album, eventually touring with him in the 90’s.
She has since released seven studio albums and in 2024, she released her first live album, on vinyl - recorded in Dorchester’s Echotown Studios.
Now Maryen is due to sing live on Sunday, July 14 from 4pm with free entry to the event.
