PART of a main road between Bridport and Beaminster is to be closed.

The A3066 will be shut for overnight asphalt preservation and lining works to be carried out.

It will be closed in the Netherbury area for a distance of approximately 3,500 metres between its junction with Mapperton Lane and Southgate.

The closure order will come into operation between 8pm and 5am on Tuesday, July 9 and will remain in force for 18 months.

It is anticipated that the works will be completed by Sunday, July 14.

A diversion route will be signposted using; A356 - A37 - A35.

The temporary closure order will enable RMS Ltd safe access to carry out asphalt preservation and lining works.

The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
