A video of a campsite in west Dorset has gone viral on social media site TikTok, after racking up more than a million views since its release.

The small family-run Dorset Nectar Cider Farm camping site on Pineapple Lane in Waytown, near Bridport, has seen an increase in bookings following a TikTok video shared on the site last month.

Shared by Campsites.co.uk, the video has since gained 1.3 million views, 69,000 likes and more than 440 comments.

Located on a working apple cider farm in Bridport with just 14 pitches, the video has had a huge effect on the amount of bookings for the small, family run business.

The video is a slide show of pictures that shows off the key features of the site, labelling it as a ‘hidden gem’ in Dorset, before showing the private pitch areas situated inside the cider apple orchard. It also shows in detail the site’s cider garden, farm shop and cider tasting room in the next photos.

Ryan Strong, one of five business partners in the family, said: “It went all over. We are booked out every weekend.

“We were pleasantly surprised as we weren’t aware until one of the guests told us.

"Then suddenly we started getting bookings from people in their early 20s, the demographic of TikTok users.

“We’ve had bookings from all over. I remember a pair of young ladies had driven down from Edinburgh. We have had tourists camp here who have travelled from Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA too.

“It really emphasises what a unique place this is.”

Since offering adult-only camping opportunities set between the orchards since 2020, Mr Strong explained what has been the draw to people visiting the site recently.

He said: “Being set between the orchards is something that does not exist anywhere else. This gives good privacy. You get the shade, the sun, peace and quiet, and in the spring blossom petals fall and you are awoken by birdsong.

“There’s a chilled, relaxed environment, but we also offer live music on cider Saturdays, where we rotate a variety of meals and the campers really enjoy that.”

Comments on the video include:

“Me and my friends stayed here it was beautiful! There was live music one night and the staff were lovely. Plus the cider is so good. We'll be going again."

“Probably one of my favourite places I ever stayed. Wonderful owners and fantastic cider.”

“Me and a mate went there last year and it was brilliant, we will be back soon.”
