A renowned furniture designer will be hosting a charity summer gala at his home in Beaminster where visitors can enjoy history talks, painting displays and more.

Dorset Archives Trust (DAT) will be hosting its summer gala event at Farrs, the home of John and Jennie Makepeace, in Beaminster from 5pm on Thursday, July 11.

In addition to the topiary, rolling lawns and fruit, vegetable and flower gardens, visitors can also see John and Jennie’s collection of modern paintings and applied arts with furniture also available to view on the day from John’s studio.

There will also be a speech from John about his career as a furniture designer and the research he and his archivist, Gertrude Gibbons, are doing at Dorset History Centre.
