A CCTV mast is to be added to a Lyme Regis car park for extra security.
The 15metre mast is being proposed by Dorset Council on land it owns at the eastern edge of the skate park, which is the northeast corner of the pay and display car park. The skate park will also be covered by the cameras.
Council officers say that established trees and hedges will help soften the mast outline although the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team say it would be even better if it were lower and made of timber rather than steel, or if steel has to be used, its colour changed to brown, although engineers say the height is needed to ensure coverage of the area.
Neither Lyme Regis Town Council nor the Dorset Council ward councillors made any comment on the proposal.
