A school meal supplier in Dorset has been shortlisted for two national awards recognising its commitment to education catering.
The independent catering company Local Food Links (LFL), based in Bridport is in the shortlist for two categories in the Local Authorities Caters Association (LACA) Awards for Excellence.
LFL works supplies 4,800 meals a day to 59 schools in Dorset and Devon, with 78% of ingredients purchased from Dorset suppliers.
It was nominated as the Business of the Year Award and catering manager Barry Dovell has been nominated for the LACA & Natasha Allergy Research Foundation Allergy Management Award, named after a charity which campaigns for people at risk of serious allergic reactions.
Caroline Morgan, chief executive of LFL, said: “I am incredibly proud of the entire team for their dedication to feeding children well, especially at a time when many families are struggling.
“We recognise the value of a delicious and filling meal during the school day and strive to always make it the best it can be. To be shortlisted amongst our peers is a privilege and recognises the high standards we have always set out to achieve.”
Winners will be announced at the LACA Awards event which will be held in Birmingham on Thursday July 4.
LFL has also been awarded a catering contract for the Wessex Multi Academy Trust Schools which will start in September 2024, working closely with 10 first, primary and middle schools.
