Care home residents are set to display their artistic creations at a Dorset gallery.
Residents of Harbour House Care Home in West Bay will exhibit their works at the Sou’-Sou’-West Gallery, Symondsbury from Tuesday, June 18 – Sunday, June 30.
The artists have an average age of 90 and the exhibition has been titled ‘Art Without Age,’ and will feature some of the care home residents favourite pieces from their own portfolios.
This will be the second exhibition by the residents, following the success and popularity of their ‘Past Times’ exhibition in 2023.
Harbour House residents have a weekly art session with local Bridport artist Sarah Jane Ross.
Most participants have only started painting in the last few years and the sessions tackle a wide range of subjects, varying from seascapes and sunsets, works inspired by famous artists and, most popular, nature, including seasonal flowers.
During the sessions, they experiment with a range of different media, including acrylic paint, inks, charcoal, watercolour, oil pastel and soft pastel.
Resident, Bill Lumsden said: “The art sessions are ambitious and rewarding.
Another resident, Sylvia Gardner added: “I love our Tuesday morning art sessions.”
