WEST Dorset restaurants have been recognised for their stunning outdoor seating areas.

The Anchor Inn at Seatown, Hive Beach Café at Burton Bradstock and Harbour Inn at Lyme Regis have all made OpenTable’s latest list of Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining.

The list is based on more than 2.2 million OpenTable diner reviews and metrics, the qualified restaurants were then ranked by the percentage of reviews with the tag ‘outdoor dining.’

OpenTable is an online restaurant-reservation service company.

The Anchor Inn boasts breath-taking views of the Jurassic Coast which diners can enjoy from the ‘cliff top terrace.’

Matt Mullett, landlord of the Anchor Inn said: “We are incredibly lucky to be in this idyllic location. We are fortunate that people sitting to eat with us have unobstructed views of the Jurassic Coast.

“We also try and utilise a lot of local suppliers – one of the local men in the village goes out fishing from the beach in front of you and you can see him catching the fish which will end up on people’s plates later.

“It’s great and really gratifying to have made this list. We work really hard to make sure that our food is great and that our service is good enough to live up to the location – We don’t want to take the view for granted.”

The Harbour Inn boasts views across the sea, as well as overlooking the Cobb and Lyme Regis Harbour.

Mark Oldfield, manager of the Harbour Inn said: “We are a family run business serving local fish and local produce.

“I have been here for forty years, and I suppose the view is not something that you ever get tired of. We are always a lot busier in the summer months.”

Hive Beach Café not only has outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful sea views and sunsets, but an additional marquee, offering panoramic views of the coast.

Steve Attrill, owner of the Hive Beach Café, said: “It’s always nice to be included in lists like this and I was delighted to see that the Hive features in OpenTable’s Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining.

“This is a testament to the incredibly hard work of our chefs, front of house staff and indeed the entire wider team at the Hive.

“We’re proud to be dog friendly and to be able to offer so much outdoor seating – which takes advantage of what I believe is one of the most beautiful backdrops in the country.

“We’re approaching what will hopefully be a busy summer and I can’t wait for lots of people to come and try it out for themselves."
