Cards club look to encourage more membership with new weekly sessions.
The Bridport Bridge Club have launched a new ‘Gentle’ duplicate bridge session in a bid to encourage more members.
Weekly sessions will take place on Tuesday afternoons at St Swithun’s Hall in North Allington, Bridport between 2pm to 5pm with a break for tea.
According to the club, the sessions are for anyone from those who have previously completed a lesson programme with the club or elsewhere, to returning players with a basic or rusty knowledge looking to get more involved.
There are no sessions on the fourth Tuesday of the month, and you don’t need to come along with a partner. Experienced players will be on hand to offer encouragement.
Cost of sessions are £3, which is payable on the day. There is a concession of £2 for members.
The club run a range of sessions across the week. A spokesperson for the club said: “In a bid to encourage more beginners into regular play, Bridport Bridge Club has recently launched a new weekly ‘Gentle’ duplicate bridge session taking place on Tuesday afternoons.
"Bridport Bridge Club is a friendly and informal club and meets to play duplicate bridge on Wednesday evenings and most Friday afternoons at St Swithun’s Church Hall, with a Thursday evening session played online.”
