A man has been arrested after a biker was seriously injured in a crash.

The incident on the B3157 Bramdon Lane between the junctions for Rodden and Langton Herring was reported to police at 4.42pm today.

 It involved a black Suzuki motorcycle and a white Nissan Interstar van.

The air ambulance service took a man to hospital with life-threatening injuries. His next of kin has been made aware.

Thay added that a man had been arrested on suspicion of a driving offence.

There is currently a road closure in place between Portesham and Chickerell.

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances of this collision are ongoing and I urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“We are aware several vehicles continued their journey towards Bridport and we are particularly interested to hear from them as they may have information that could assist the investigation.

“Also, I would like to hear from anyone with a dashcam who may have captured the incident or the manner of driving of either vehicle leading up to it.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closure is in place. This is absolutely vital to enable emergency services to safely attend the collision and for a thorough investigation of the scene to take place.”
