A biker has died in a crash.
Emergency services were called to the coast road this afternoon in response to a crash at Abbotsbury Hill.
The collision, which took place just after 12.30pm, involved a blue Yamaha motorcycle and a grey Volvo XC90.
Dorset Police has confirmed the motorcyclist – a Weymouth man aged in his 20s – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.
The driver of the Volvo did not sustain any serious injuries, according to the force.
Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded to the incident and for an examination of the collision scene.
Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of Dorset Police’s Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who very sadly died in this collision.
“We are now carrying out a thorough investigation so we can establish the full circumstances of the collision.
“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police, or any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage, to please get in touch with us.
“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be carried out.”
