DORSET Council has agreed that solar panels can be added to the Boat Building Academy at Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis.
The council decided that the application for 40 panels on the south-facing pitched roof of the Lyme Regis Marine Centre building can go ahead without the need for full planning permission under permitted development rules.
Grant aid for the project has been offered through the Low Carbon Dorset team.
An illustration submitted with the notification shows the panels in two rows on the car park side of the building.
