Television cameras have returned to a Dorset nature reserve.

The new run of wildlife programme Springwatch from RSPB Arne is under way.

The BBC show, which is presented by Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan, has made a return to the Purbeck nature reserve, which is also used as a location for companion series Winterwatch.

Iolo Williams has been exploring the bountiful wildlife that Dorset has to offer as he spreads his wings to meet some of its rarest residents.

The Welsh ornithologist has been based at nearby Corfe Castle keeping an eye on a live nest.

Episode two saw Chris and Michaela introduce a medley of live nests at Arne while Iolo Williams will be at Hengistbury Head, in search of one of the Bournemouth beauty spot's more vocal inhabitants.

Meanwhile Megan McCubbin is stationed at a "spectacular location" on the Isle of Bute, hoping to catch a glimpse of osprey.

On tonight's show, Chris and Michaela commentate on the comings and goings of the live nests as the drama unfolds in Arne and Iolo returns to Hengistbury Head, where he reveals the secret drama playing out in the shallow ponds on the cliffside.

The show on Friday will see the presenters at Arne joined by special guest Louis VI, a zoologist and musician who takes inspiration from the natural world in the composition of his poetic and music.

The series was first launched in 2005 by Bill Oddie and Kate Humble.

In Winterwatch, which was broadcast in mid-January, the team looked at Poole Harbour, Brownsea Lagoon and the estuary areas around Arne itself which had lots of migrant birds.
