The Royal British Legion in Bridport will be hosting a talk on D-Day ahead of its 80th anniversary in June.
Brigadier John Dean, the Bridport Royal British Legion president and Remembrance Parade Commander will be giving a lecture on the preparations of Operation Overlord, known as D-Day, at the Bridport Town Hall on Wednesday June 5 at 7:30 pm.
The military operation saw many Allied troops leave from Weymouth and Portland as they embarked on a mission to invade northern France and helped turn the tide of the Second World War.

John has studied the complexity of the invasion over many years which is unapparelled in modern-day warfare.
The presentation will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of D Day and pay its respects to the many who lost their lives during the military campaign.
Donations will be accepted at the door which will go to the Bridport branch of the Royal British Legion.
