The hottest weekend of the year could end with a period of thundery weather, which looks set to continue into next week.

Remaining dry, the weekend is set to start with blue skies and prolonged periods of sunshine, according to the Met Office. Fair weather cloud may be present through the day with light winds expected.

Despite temperatures set to reach around 22 degrees Celsius on Saturday across the county, the warm weather is expected to bring an increase in both UV and pollen levels.

Heavy and thundery showers are likely on the Sunday before rain and blustery winds return from the southwest on Monday and Tuesday, which will feel cooler than the past week.

The Met Office have issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Dorset, which is in place on Sunday, May 12 between 12pm to 10pm.
