A brand-new pub is set to open its doors next week.

The Colmer is an exciting new pub which will open on East Street, Bridport, next Tuesday.

Former actor and model Nicole Gibson took over the premises of former nightclub Neon earlier this year with initial plans to transform it into a wine bar named The Colmer.

When asked about the change in direction, Ms Gibson said: “Winebars are making a comeback, however, I built up a wonderful, mature customer base at the Lord Nelson Hotel and as the saying goes ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’

“The Colmer will be a pub, but elevated, with a premium offering of cask ales, draught lager and cider, spirits and of course fine wines. Creating an atmosphere is where my strengths lie. Focusing on one particular area could detract from what I do best.

“During my 25 years in the industry I have working in a Michelin star restaurant, run a wine bar and an up-market country pub. I’ll be using my experience in all of these places to give The Colmer a high-end touch but most importantly and unforgettable atmosphere.”

Ms Gibson previously ran the Lord Nelson Hotel also on East Street which she took over last year after moving to Bridport from Chetnole, near Sherborne.

The Lord Nelson is owned by Palmers Brewery and Nicole made the big decision to move because she wanted to own her own venue.

There will be a great selection of drinks available as well as wines, including draught beers, ciders and bitters, as well as a ‘substantial’ alcohol free menu – with Nicole preferring to opt for a non-alcoholic beverage through personal preference.

The Lord Nelson reopened last month under new ownership from James Entwisle, 42 and Edward de Chazal, 58 who are both embarking on a completely new career path by entering.
