A POPULAR west Dorset music festival is looking forward to welcoming a bevy of brass players.
The Beaminster Festival, which takes place from June 17 to 30, has some talented brass musicians among its line-up.
On Tuesday, June 26, the highly successful finalist of the 2016 BBC Young Musician, Ben Goldscheider, French horn, will be playing together with Callum Smart, violin and Richard Uttley, piano, wonderful trio arrangements of Mozart and Fauré as well as the best known work for this line-up, the beautifully elegiac Brahms Horn Trio.
If a little jazz is more to your taste, Bone-afide are a brilliant young trombone quartet who play Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael and Ruiz in a programme which also includes an exciting arrangement of the William Tell Overture!
This exciting quartet will be performing on Friday, June 28 at 11.30am. Bone-afide will also be visiting local primary schools to show them what fun can be had on brass instruments.
Matilda Lloyd, performing on Friday, June 28 at 7.30pm, is a trumpet player of international calibre, playing with the equally talented Richard Gowers, organ and piano, with a dramatic rendition of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, working their way through the ages to Gershwin.
