The dream of locking in low-cost energy for the home just became a reality with the creation of a new business based in Bridport.
Evoflo Energy, the brainchild of Dan Rowe and Julian Morency was set-up to tackle the challenge of rising power bills and increased energy uncertainty which has been caused by geo-political events, and intermittent weather patterns which disrupt the flow of renewable energy to our homes.
"Energy costs are soaring, and shopping around offers little relief due to high wholesale prices," notes Dan. "Our goal is to provide customers with an alternative that not only saves them money but also ensures long-term financial security."
"We discovered that certain energy suppliers offer significantly lower tariffs during night-time hours. To capitalise on these savings, you need a method to secure that energy for daytime use. Installing a home battery system does precisely that, allowing you to store cheaper energy overnight and use it throughout the day!"
Home battery storage works by capturing off-peak green energy and storing it for later use, much like the storage heaters of yesteryear but these batteries harvest 100% renewable energy, rather than gas/coal. This energy is otherwise wasted because there are no large-scale storage options, and turbines continue to work throughout the night when demand is at its lowest.
“People are rightly concerned about being greener, and home batteries capture green energy in a more environmentally friendly way”.
Those with home solar or another renewable source can save even further on their bills, by putting their captured electricity into battery storage, rather than pushing any excess back to the grid.
“Those without home solar will see significant reductions too because they can take advantage of smart tariffs from their energy supplier, which avoid peak energy prices altogether”.
"Those with both battery storage and solar panels can enjoy savings of about 80%, while those with just a battery can still reduce their bills by 50%. Additionally, because batteries reduce pressure on the grid, the UK government has made them VAT exempt saving customers 20% on the cost of financing a battery.”
