An international art competition organised by a Bridport gallery will soon be inviting submissions for this year’s event.
Art Unlimited’s Open Art Competition is now entering its third year, aiming to showcase the work of emerging artists locally and on an international level.
The competition is open to artists aged 18 and over working in both 2D and 3D, with a separate class for young artists aged 15 to 18.
There will be different awards up for grabs - including Best in Show, with a prize of £5,000 (doubled from last year’s competition) plus a two-week solo exhibition at the Art Unlimited gallery, South Street, Bridport.
Additional awards include Best Digital Piece, Best Creative Piece, Best 3D Piece, and Best Concept Piece with each offering a £300 prize. There is also The People’s Choice Award with a £500 prize.
Submissions open on Wednesday, May 1 and close on Wednesday, July 31. The shortlisted artists will be announced in August.
An exhibition of all the finalists’ works will be on display at The Malthouse Gallery, Town Mill, Lyme Regis from September 10-22.
Entry costs £15 per piece for adults and £10 per piece for under 18s. These fees will go towards the art competition bursary for 2024/25. This year’s bursary of £2,500 will be awarded to a young local artist later this summer.
