A home library service has been introduced in Lyme Regis to deliver books to people with health or mobility issues.
Dorset Council has extended its free service where books, including audiobooks, are delivered to people who are unable to get to their local library due to health or mobility issues.
The selection of books is chosen by a volunteer team from the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) based on individual preferences which can be provided in different formats.
The service aims to make recipients feel like they are still part of a library community through the conversations and regular delivery visits from their volunteers.
It is also available from Charmouth, Bridport and Beaminster libraries.
One reader said: “My volunteer is wonderful – she will find any book I request, this service makes borrowing books so easy – it is a life saver.”
You can find out more information about the service by phoning the RVS office on 01305 236666 or e-mailing dorsethomelibraryservice@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk
