A history society is to hold talks on 18th century housing problems and labour industry.
The Bridport History Society is welcoming Austen Hamilton MA to give a talk titled The Eighteenth Century Speculative House Builder- a Familiar Figure.
Housing problems have a long and storied history, as has the role of a builder and their solution.
The development process has changed little over time, and the talk will look at some of those involved in the controversies of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century housing developments.
The talk will take place on Thursday, April 11 at the United Church Hall on East Street in Bridport. Doors open at 2.15pm for a 2.30pm start.
This is part of the society’s 2024 programme, which will welcome professor Karen Hunt on Thursday, May 9.
Her talk is titled Stories from the Outworkers Ledger, which details the Bridport industry and labour history.
