Firefighters in Bridport have been honing their skills in dealing with car crashes.
Members of Bridport Fire Station took part in a training session covering how to rescue people trapped within a car, a situation often faced when dealing with collisions on the road.
In particular, the crew re-enacted a scenario that allows for firefighters and paramedics to have full access to people who may be stuck in their cars by cutting open a car.
A Bridport Fire Station spokesperson said: "Tonight (Monday, 11 March) we carried out some RTC (Road Traffic Collision) training. In this scenario crews had to create space, carry out a roof flap and complete a dashboard roll on a 3 door car.
"This was done by managing the glass, removing the doors and tailgate and then creating an opening between the ‘B’ and ‘C’ posts to access the rear seats.
"Specific cuts were then used to allow the roof to be folded back on itself, over the bonnet. Further cuts were then put in place to allow the dash board to be rolled forward. All these techniques are used to allow firefighters and paramedics full access to casualties within vehicles."
