Almost 100 people turned out to sing with a local choir.
Bridport’s West Dorset Singers issued an invitation to the public to ‘Come and Sing’ Mozart’s Requiem on Saturday, 2 March.
In total 97 enthusiasts arrived on the day.
They came from Dorchester, Beaminster, Crewkerne, Lyme Regis and everywhere in between to meet in St Swithun’s Church.
Many were members of other local choirs and singing groups but a number came simply to experience the joy of singing wonderful music.
They included some who hadn’t sung seriously since leaving school and others who didn’t know if they could sing at all.
A first run-through was sung with enthusiasm and the afternoon was then spent polishing the work under the leadership of the West Dorset Singers’ Musical Director, Matt Kingston.
A spokesperson for the event said: "Many stayed to close the day when friends and families arrived to enjoy a performance – the audience and performers all agreed that the afternoon had been a great success."
