An independently run vet practice in Bridport is 'proud' to have been nominated for a national award.
Bredy Vets in Bridport has been nominated for 'Practice of the Year' at this year's Petplan Veterinary awards.
On top of making the shortlist for the best practice, Claire Millard has been nominated for 'Vet of the Year', whilst Anna Willmore and Juliette Perham have made the cut in the 'Vet Nurse of the Year' category.
Claire has been a vet for 19 years, 16 of which she has spent at Bredy Vets and is a director at the practice, whilst Anna has been with the practice since it first opened in 1985 and Juliette joined in 2013.
Speaking to The News about the nominations, Claire said: “We are really pleased.
"It's wonderful and it is so nice to think someone has thought this highly of us to nominate us.
"We are really proud of our whole team.
"We have no idea who has nominated us or the situation that someone has nominated us for and so we don’t know why.
"We just want to say thank you to our lovely clients."
The practice prides itself on being independent from big corporations which is what Claire believes helps make them different from other practices.
The practice, along with Claire and Anna, have been nominated in previous years but winning hasn't come into their thinking as they strive to provide the best care possible for the animals that come through their doors.
She added: "We are set apart in that we are independent and not part of a big group, so it is nice to feel appreciated.
"I'm really pleased, I am just doing my job but it's nice to be recognised.
"We haven’t really thought what we would do if we won.
It is the 25th year of the awards that recognises the hard work and dedication of veterinary practice staff, giving thanks to teams and individuals who are committed to improving the lives of animals.
Thousands of nominations were submitted to the pet insurance company.
Claire and her team will find out if they have won in March when the winners will be contacted ahead of an awards ceremony.
