A man has appeared in court in connection with a reported violent incident at a property on the night of Christmas Eve where a samurai sword was seized and it is alleged a woman was assaulted and a man was threatened.
Police and ambulance crews were called to a property on Flaxfield Road in Beaminster at 9.54pm on Sunday, December 24, following reports of a disturbance.
Dorset Police said the incident involved four adults, all known to each other, and it is reported that an assault took place inside the property, in which a 19-year-old woman sustained a minor injury to her hand.
It was reported that a man who was arrested required medical attention and was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
A samurai sword was seized by police.
Tony Scott Hill, aged 36, of Flaxfield Road, has been charged with common assault, wounding with intent, attempted wounding with intent, threatening a person with an offensive weapon and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.
Court papers state as well as the sword, a military knife and air weapons were found at the address.
Hill appeared at Poole Magistrates on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, for an initial hearing. A plea was not entered.
The case was sent to Bournemouth Crown Court and Hill will appear there on Wednesday, January 31.
The defendant was refused bail and remains in custody.
