Armed police rushed to West Bay to help with a medical incident.
Many people were concerned to see armed officers in West Bay this weekend, but police have confirmed that while this incident did involve armed officers, who have advanced first aid training, they were not acting in an armed capacity.
The officers were assisting the ambulance service with a medical incident along the esplanade on Saturday, January 6, shortly after 12.30pm.
The man involved was taken to hospital and no further police action was required.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 12.32pm on Saturday, January 6, relating to a man requiring medical attention at an address in the area of West Bay Esplanade.
“Officers attended to assist the ambulance service and the man was taken to hospital.
“This was a medical incident, and no further police action was required.”
