Almost 100 people took part in a Christmas quiz night in aid of a community shop in west Dorset.
A fun evening filled with Christmas spirit was enjoyed at the Thorncombe Sports and Social Club in support of the village’s community shop.
The winning team on the night was called the ‘Cricketers' Wives’ and a raffle was also held with a small hamper offered up as the main prize.
The amount raised from the raffle and entry fees for tables of four was more than £300, all of which went to the village shop.
Anne Johnson-Rooks, chairman of the Thorncombe Village Shop management committee, said: "Thorncombe Sports & Social Club hosted a Christmas quiz night in aid of Thorncombe Village Shop on December 15 - It was a really festive evening.
“Christmas jumpers were in abundance, and – despite the mild weather – a giant snowman made an appearance and, fortunately, didn’t melt.
“Burgers and jacket potatoes were enjoyed in the cosy dining area, warmed by the log burner.

“The two quizmasters were dressed in blow-up outfits of elves and reindeer, and the questions had a festive theme.
“A most enjoyable evening was had by all, and the raffle produced a fantastic sum for the shop, for which we are very grateful."
The village shop also recently put on a Christmas lunch lunch at the village hall and a late night open evening showcasing many of the local delights it has to offer.
