The coast road in Burton Bradstock was turned into a "lake" as floods hit Bridport on Monday (December 4).
Heavy rainfall caused an overflow to the River Bride which then caused floodwater to rise up onto the road, eventually closing it at around 3.30pm.
The floods brought debris onto the road and caused issues to cars which attempted to drive through the water, with some cars breaking down and possibly "written off" according to one witness.
On Tuesday, the effects of the flooding were still present with mud on the roads
The play area in Burton Bradstock remained submerged underwater.
The Central convenience store on Common Lane was forced to close after the road was closed
Chris Jackson, 43, store assistant said it was "like having a lake outside".
He said: "I was here until 4pm and at that point, I decided there was no point staying open.
"It wasn't even gradual, it just seemed like one minute it was just wet on the ground and the next it was totally awash.
"It all just happened so quickly."
Ben Stokes, 28, the store manager at Central, said: "When I left at 2pm it was like a little stream on the road and then about half an hour later it was everywhere, in that time it had just swelled.
"The water rose so rapidly after I left, I couldn't believe it.
"We had to close, at the end of the day if we have no customers there is no point being open.
"All we really had was a bit of debris in terms of damage
Christopher Peacock from Burton Bradstock Cars said: “It just came out of nowhere. One moment it was well and then it was coming through the park. The river bank must have burst and caused it to come onto the road."
Speaking at the time of the flood he added: “It is still quite bad, the police have shut the road. We have two or three cars that have tried to get through and they have broken down and are probably written off.
“It has gone down a bit but it is still quite high. In some places, I would say it might be half, even a full metre deep.
“It is getting dark now and the police are trying to stop people driving through.
“We could be stuck here all night. We have one guy who lives in Axminister who is staying over tonight because it's too dangerous to drive.
“I would like to thank the community for being so supportive and everyone who has phoned in to check on us.”
