AN ANTI-RACISM campaign group has said it is "delighted" to see Suella Braverman leave the government.
Mrs Braverman was sacked as Home Secretary by Rishi Sunak this morning as part of a Cabinet reshuffle.
She was accused of stoking tensions ahead of Armistice Day protests, and pressure had been mounting on the Prime Minister to sack her.
A No 10 source said the Prime Minister “asked Suella Braverman to leave Government and she has accepted”.
Mrs Braverman said: “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary”, adding: “I will have more to say in due course.”
Lynne Hubbard, Joint Chair of Stand Up To Racism Dorset, said: "Suella Braverman has been one of the most divisive figures in recent British politics.
"She has led government campaigns to persecute refugees, including bringing the Bibby Stockholm prison barge to Portland.
"Her talk of migrant "hurricanes" and "invasions" has encouraged mistrust and even hatred of vulnerable people like those placed on the barge.
"Braverman has sowed suspicion and hostility in our communities and we're delighted to see her go.
"Can we hope that her successor will abandon the persecution of refugees and the 'hostile environment' for migrants - or will it be more of the same from a government that seems obsessed with finding scapegoats for its own failures and crises?"
