A distressed dog has been reunited with its owner after it was found alone and distressed in the dark on a cliff top.
The dog was discovered on the cliff at Beer Head around 12.10am on Sunday, November 5 with its lead still attached.
Concerns were raised that the owner may have fallen from a cliff or was lying injured in the area.
After being checked over by the local vet, the cute canine was chipped but no details appeared on the chip.
Coastguards from Beer and Lyme Regis searched the coast path, whilst a lifeboat from Lyme did a shoreline search.
A coastguard rescue helicopter searched the area from the air using a thermal imaging camera.
Scouring the area from Seaton hole to Branscombe Mouth, nobody was found, with the search given up at 3.30am.
Trying to locate the animal’s owner, coastguards posted on social media, whilst police in the area checked a car that was parked in Beer Head car park - but the owner of the car was not the owner of the pooch.
However, the search came to an end on the morning of Sunday, November 5 when the dog was collected by its owner.
