A LOCAL Big Band promises to get people 'in the mood' for the joyous festive season.
Bridport Big Band will perform at The Electric Palace on Saturday, November 18.
The band plays an assortment of styles from toe-tapping classic tunes to fresh modern arrangements plus smooth melodic vocal numbers.
This community band brings plenty of enthusiasm and a strong diversity of players, which shines through in the fun and uplifting atmosphere the Bridport Big Band bring to all their performances.
As well as pieces by the late greats such as Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington the band also feature Stevie Wonder, Sammy Nestico, George Gershwin, The Police and a spot of Oasis.
Expect the unexpected, BBB have a brilliant repertoire to choose from including swing, trad jazz, Latin, modern classics and pop.
The band is fronted by MD Matt Barge and singers Julie Harris and Cameron Shaw. In a nod to their strong musical roots as the Rex Trevett Big Band, originally formed in the 1990s, the amateur musicians still count many founder member players amongst their ranks today.
In recent years the band have been invited to play in many venues across Dorset including a popular regular Saturday morning spot in Bridport’s Bucky Doo Square, and are regularly approached for a wide variety of musical events.
Tickets costing £11 can be bought online in advance via https://www.electricpalace.org.uk/music
