The latest series about life at one of Dorset's top attractions Dorset returns to our screens tonight.
Monkey Life is set to air its sixteenth season on Sky Nature at 5pm.
The much-anticipated show will feature all the rescues and daily dramas at Monkey World - the world’s biggest primate rescue centre.
The documentary follows Dr Alison Cronin and the team as she rescues vulnerable primate from around the world and rehabilitates them into groups of their own species.
The programme is one of the longest running docu-soaps on TV, with the first incarnation, Monkey Business, first appearing on screens in 1998.
Nicknamed by staff as ‘Beast-enders,’ a reference to BBC soap opera Eastenders, the series won a place in the hearts of the public with its fascinating, but often tragic insight into monkey and ape rescues.
The sixteenth series follows the introduction of rescued Argentinian chimpanzees, Sasha and Kangoo, to their new families at the park. It will also show UK pet trade rescues and Alison’s journey to collect an orphaned orangutan.
Filmed over the course of a year, the series takes the viewer on an emotional rollercoaster as the team have to make tough decisions on new arrivals, say goodbye to old friends as well as seeing individuals flourish in the sanctuary- with the daily antics of familiar faces that followers of the series will already be familiar with.
The series will be shown on Sky Nature every Sunday from November 5 at 5pm and will be available to stream or watch On Demand from then.
Monkey World is open all year every day apart from Christmas Day from 10am to 5pm. For more information about the primates and the work Monkey World do visit www.monkeyworld.org
