A Symondsbury-based garden designer and author is set to host a talk on all things Japanese gardens.
Charles Chesshire will be hosting the talk at the Bridport WI Community Hall on North Street, Bridport, tonight, Thursday, October 19 from 7.30pm.
Talking about the upcoming talk, Charles said: "Most of my talk is geared around the tea garden, because that's the most interesting part of the Japanese garden because it's a kind of rite of passage, a journey."
He has designed gardens for star names such as Billy Joel and in places such as New York and Saudi Arabia, as well as closer to home at Morton Hall Gardens in Worcestershire.
The books he has authored include Japanese Gardens, Clematis and Flowering Shrubs, as well as teaching at Parson’s College of Design in New York on many aspects of design - including Japanese gardens
A spokesperson for the Bridport & District Gardening Club, which is hosting the event, said: "Charles is a designer, author and nurseryman. He has worked in many countries before setting up the nursery 'Rare & Special Plants’ in Symondsbury.”
Non-members are welcome to join the meeting for a fee of £2 and more information about the club is available on the club website www.bridportgardeneingclub.co.uk
