Beaminster Town Council has launched its latest Community Resilience Plan.
It was first launched in 2008 to create a team that can respond to extraordinary events in a rapid and co-ordinated manner, to withstand and recover from difficult situations.
The town council launched the latest version of the Community Resilience Plan in Beaminster Town Square, giving residents an opportunity to ask questions on what is involved as well as to volunteer themselves.
The plan, updated periodically, this year combined the Emergency Plan and the Flood Plan to form the Community Resilience Plan.
Its aim is to assist residents, businesses, and the whole community to respond and recover from any emergency. The three teams involved are the Emergency Response Team, Community Wardens, and Volunteers.
The resilience plan has pages dedicated to a response for hazardous material spills, bomb planning, widespread fire, explosion, food shortages, flooding, snow and winter weather, heatwave, loss of critical utilities, road traffic accident, pandemics and the cost-of-living crisis.
The teams have assisted with extreme weather events in the area, as well as a COVID-19 response and vaccination programme.
The full plan can be accessed on the Discover Beaminster website at discoverbeaminster.co.uk
Beaminster Town Council is currently looking for new Community Wardens to join their team.
All Wardens will be invited to meetings, given regular training and provided with a full set of kit.
