People in the West Bay area are being encouraged to 'be prepared' as the area has been issued with a flood alert later today.
Areas most at risk this evening include West Bay Harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Brit.
As a result of high spring tides, water levels will be at their highest this evening at 7.30pm. The forecast high water level is 2.61m. Flooding is possible between 6pm and 9.45pm.
Alerts mean flooding is possible and you should 'be prepared', acting on a flood plan now if you have one.
The next high tide is expected to be higher than normal and may result in a further alert.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "We are closely monitoring the situation remotely during the high water with duty staff on standby to react as required.
"There may be a need to close pedestrian flood gates in the harbour for tonight's tide, staff will be onsite to operate these flood defence gates if required."
Residents are asked to consider activating any property flood protection products.
