The annual Weldmar Summertime Fete returned featuring stalls and games to entertain the family on an absolute scorcher of a Saturday.

Crowds enjoyed performances throughout the day, stalls and games to enjoy - including the popular nurses' stall.

Friend and supporter of Weldmar Hospicecare, Martin Clunes joined attendees at the fete. He was joined by his dog Bob Jackson, and went around each of the stalls talking to people before moving inside the hospice to talk to patients.

He said: "The fete is always lovely. I have been coming for 20 or something years and its always great.

"I like meeting all the volunteers and thanking them for all they do, and people come up to me and tell me about their loved ones who were cared for here.

"I think we are all very proud of Weldmar in Dorset."

For Joanne Holmes-Casey the fete is more than just a chance to have fun.

She said: "Five years ago we lost my mum. She was being cared for here at Weldmar and now we come down every year to support the hospice.

"It is good to come down and put a memory on the tree to remember her."

The fete featured lots to do, especially for children. Nick Grasby played with his daughter Ella in the sand pit.

He said: "There is a lot of variety and games for the kids and little stalls which is great. It is just a nice atmosphere and we get to bump into people we know."

Katie Dunne attended with her husband Tom and their kids.

She said: "Toms's dad had some treatment at the hospice so we always like to support it and there is a lot for the kids."

Marketing and Communications Lead for Weldmar James O'Neill said: "It might be the warmest summer fete we have ever had, and we used to hold it in July.

"Our team has been very busy setting up for this and it is brilliant to see so many people have come out."

Weldmar Hospicecare’s Summer Fete was held on Saturday at the Weldmar Hospicecare Inpatient Unit, Herringston Road, Dorchester.

Money raised from the event will go towards the specialist end-of-life care that Weldmar provides to adults in Dorset with a life-limiting illness and support for their loved ones.

HSBC UK sponsored the fete and First Bus supplied a free shuttle service between Fairfield car park and the hospice.
