Emergency services descended on a west Dorset beach this afternoon for what was thought to be a medical emergency.
Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock was cleared as rescuers worked at the scene.
It is believed they were there after a person collapsed on the beach.
The person's condition is not known.
Onlookers told how the beach, which had been busy with locals and visitors making the most of the heatwave was closed.
Police, coastguards and paramedics were all in attendance.
The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance also landed and the Coastguard helicopter was at the scene earlier but then departed.
An onlooker said they arrived at the beach at just after 5.30pm and saw dozens of emergency service personnel.
Police officers had cleared the beach.
The onlooker said he had heard someone had collapsed on the beach.
Dorset Police and HM Coastguard have been contacted for further information.
