Thousands crowded into Bridport in 'hat-tastic' headgear and 'cap'-tivating creations as part of one of the town's quirkiest festivals.
Bridport Hat Festival on Saturday was kicked off by a speech from mayor Dave Bolwell welcoming visitors to the festival.
The annual festival featured a number of events including competitions, live music and games.
Locals and visitors alike donned their best headgear, and many chose to take things a step further with matching outfits and costumes.
From a 'bevvy of swans' to a hat of treats and many other original creations. The hat festival is an opportunity for Bridport to get stuck in with its fashionable side.
President of the Hat Festival Committee Jacqui Lovett was amazed and astounded by what people came up with.
She said: "We keep thinking the festival can't get any better but it is astounding how many creations there were.
"I thought the swans were very good but there are too many to choose from, this year was spectacular.
"The imagination and creativity that people come out with are superb."
This is the 12th event has been held. Originally the festival was run by Roger Snook the owner of Snooks Hat Emporium, but has since grown to the point it requires a committee.
Susan Outhwaite has worked at Snooks for nine years and compered the event.
She said: "It was exceptionally well attended and the weather was lovely. Every year I think this can't get any better and every year I am proved wrong.
"I am so grateful I don't judge the contests because it was a tough one this year.
"I have no idea how these people come up with it they have so much imagination and creativity, not just the hats but the shoes and outfits.
"I would like to give a shout-out to the volunteers and committee members. Without whom this festival would not happen."
This year the festival was fundraising for Brain Tumour Research.
