A Bridport church has started a "Kindness Club" to bring together young people of all backgrounds.
The special club has started to make younger members of the community feel comfortable at the Chapel in the garden, welcoming members of the LGBTQ community, the Jurassic Multi-cultural Network, rough sleepers and people of all faiths.
The club meets once a month on a Sunday at the Chapel in the Garden on East Street in Bridport.
Club member Gemma Snow regularly attends the sessions with her daughter Morwenna.
She said: “I enjoy the opportunity to connect with others with young children, to really share from a loving point of view how everything is going. And then the sharing of activities brings the children together and affirms the Utilitarian ethics of inclusivity and mutual co-operation.”
Every month there is a theme to explore from making inventions out of junk, peace mobiles, candle holders and light, designing musical instruments to the magic of marbling.
The sessions take place during the regular chapel services on the first Sunday of every month.
People are welcome to visit the Chapel just before 11.00am and take a pew, the children are called to go out with their parents or carers after about 5 minutes, and they all go to their own room where the activities have been laid out.
When the service is nearly over the children return to the Chapel to show what they have made or been doing and often a song is shared
Children up to 14 are welcome and small children should be accompanied by a parent/carer.
The Kindness Club usually meets on the first Sunday of the month from 11am to 12noon, followed by refreshments, including cake.
They next meet on Sunday, September 3, and the theme will be ‘Celebrating human beings’.
The main leader is DBS checked and they follow the safeguarding policy of the chapel.
