A FIRE which destroyed several cars in a Bridport car park may have been started deliberately, police say.
On Tuesday, August 8, three vehicles were torched in the East Street car park at about 5.15am that morning.
A fire crew from Bridport arrived to find all three vehicles in flames and completely destroyed, with its cause remaining a mystery in the days following.
Dorset Police said it has been making 'a number of enquiries' about the fire's cause, and think it to be a 'possible arson'.
It is believed that the fire started in a white VW and then spread to a blue VW and a grey Mini.
Due to the circumstance of the fire, it is possible that the fire was started deliberately, Dorset Police added.
All vehicles had been parked and were unoccupied at the time and nobody was injured.
Police Constable Megan O’Donovan, of Dorset Police, said: “We have been making a number of enquiries to find out how the fire started, but have so far been unable to establish the circumstances.
“I realise that not that many people would have been out and about at this time of the morning, but I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened or has any information regarding the fires to please contact us.”
