A rowing club will be hosting an event to mark the blessing of its latest boat.
Over the last year, Bridport Gig Rowing Club have been raising funds to buy a new wooden racing gig.
This included events like a sponsored virtual row around the UK.
The club has announced that it will hold an event at the boat house and Fisherman’s Green in West Bay on Saturday, August 26 from 11am until 4pm to bless the vessel.
A spokesperson for the club said: "Please come down to the bay, you will be able to look at all four of our wooden gig boats including our new boat 'Beacon'. We will be serving bacon rolls and burgers alongside cakes and crafts from the WI."
There will be teas and sandwiches available as well as a bar. Additionally, there will be a tombola and an ergo challenge on the land-based rowing machines.
At 2.30pm the Beacon will be blessed by the Rev'd Phil Ringer.
People will also have the opportunity to meet Brian Nobbs who built both the new boat 'Beacon' and one of the earlier boats 'Brydian'.
The spokesperson added: "Weather permitting, we will launch the new boat. We look forward to seeing you all at the bay!"
