The air ambulance was called to Bridport to help a patient suffering from suspected chest pains.
Residents spotted the aircraft landing near the A35 in the Watton area at about 1pm yesterday (Thursday, August 10).
A spokesperson for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance said that it was called to assist an elderly woman who was suffering from chest pains.
The woman was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital via helicopter, they added.
"Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was tasked to an incident in Bridport which was reported as an elderly female suffering chest pain," the air ambulance said in a statement.
"The patient was airlifted to Royal Bournemouth Hospital."
