A FILM which saw Hollywood stars shooting scenes in west Dorset is to receive its television premiere this weekend.
Ammonite, which was partly filmed in Lyme Regis, was inspired by the life of famous fossil hunter and palaeontologist Mary Anning - with Oscar winner Kate Winslet taking on the role.
The film's director Francis Lee announced on social media that Ammonite will receive its UK television premiere on BBC2 on Sunday, August 13 at 10pm.
He said: "It's a deeply personal film I'd love you to watch."
Winslet was seen in the seaside town in March 2019 filming scenes, attracting much interest from crowds.
Ammonite also starred Saoirse Ronan, who was also spotted in period costume on the seafront shoot.
The actors went to Eype beach to film a picnic scene and Charmouth beach for another scene.
The movie focuses on a fictitious relationship between the famous fossil hunter and another woman.
It was developed by See-Saw Films, the British Film Institute and BBC Films and was written and directed by Lee.
Lee is best known for his 2017 film, God's Own Country, a story about the gay relationship between a Yorkshire farmer and a migrant worker from Romania.
