BEAMINSTER captain Chris Park is relishing the gigantic home match against Portland Red Triangle on Saturday (1pm), calling on his team to “fight fire with fire”.

Beaminster currently sit ninth, in the drop zone, and trail Triangle by 17 points with a further 60 available this season.

Both sides know victory or defeat in this match could have massive implications for their fate, and Park is up for the battle.

He told the Bridport News: “We’ll have to be at our best to beat them, they’re always going to provide a tough game.

“They’re very aggressive. If we can get on top of them, upset them a little bit perhaps, then we’ll have a good chance of beating them.

“We’ve got to fight fire with fire sometimes. In the away game we conceded too many runs.

“If you get Matt Randell reasonably cheaply, you’ve got a chance. If you get in amongst them, they can fold pretty quickly.

“We’ve got to do what we can and I’ve got a very good feeling we’ll beat them if we’re at our best.”

On the wider task of escaping the drop to County Division Two, Park added: “There’s been a real tightening in the group the last few weeks.

“Against Puddletown we looked like a side again. We had a blip against Stalbridge but in the games since there’s been an air of believing we can actually stay in this division.

“We’re going to give it all we’ve got. I’m confident we can stay up.”

Beaminster’s captain is set to play despite suffering a broken rib two weeks ago, coming in for the unavailable Jack Handford, while Ollie Bareham replaces Nick Hollely (knee).

Park said: “I’m going to take a load of painkillers and hope I won’t have to do much.

“I’m not going to sit back if I can possibly play. We’re in a relegation fight and I’m going to give it all I can.”
