A family festival in Beaminster has been cancelled due to bad weather.

Beamin' Family Festival was due to be hosted today at Beaminster school fields.

The free festival which hosts live music, stalls and sports for families has had to be cancelled due to rain and high winds.

Earlier today, organisers were still setting up the stage and stalls, preparing to go ahead.

However, organisers have made the final decision to call it off with "huge regret".

A spokesperson for the event said: "It’s with huge regret but we are unfortunately cancelling Beamin Family Festive.

"Everybody has gone above and beyond to make today happen but unfortunately due to wind and rain it isn’t safe for the bands and live music.

"We appreciate all the love and support to make this day happen but we made a final judgement call to cancel."
