FOUR people were trapped in a vehicle after a two-vehicle crash.
Police, ambulance and fire crews were called at around 4.20 pm yesterday following reports of a road traffic collision on the coast road near Puncknowle.
The B1357 was blocked at Abbotsbury Hill, between Clay Lane, Swyre, and the Chesil Beach turn-off, Abbotsbury.
Traffic was turned back from the top of Abbotsbury Hill.
Police, fire service and paramedics were on the scene.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 4.20 pm yesterday following reports of an RTC on the coast road near Puncknowle.
"One fire engine from Bridport attended and on arrival found two vehicles involved with four casualties who were medically trapped in one of the cars.
"The casualties were assisted from the vehicle by ambulance service and crews used small tools, hydraulic cutting equipment and environment agency packs for absorbing fuel and oil. The stop came through at 5.22 pm."
The coast road was closed for several hours following the crash, with the road eventually re-opening at around 8.00pm.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "We were called at 4.05 pm to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the coast road near Puncknowle.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 15.57hrs on July 5th to an incident in the Bridport area. We sent two double-crew land ambulances and two individuals were taken by land ambulances to Dorset County Hospital.”
