It's nearly time to raise a glass to a popular local beer festival.
The festival will be taking place at its usual location of Asker Meadows in Bridport from 6pm to 10pm on Friday, June 16 and 11am to 10pm on Saturday, June 17.
This year the festival will be offering more than 80 beers and around 40 ciders; from the quirky and exotic to favourite local ales and ciders.
If beer and cider don’t hit the spot however, there is plenty more to choose from; whether that's the exceptional cocktails offered by the award-winning Dark Bear, a fruity Pimms, or a quality wine.
As for entertainment, Stylliano will be setting things off on Friday evening, and then onto Saturday with an open mic during the day, followed by performances in the evening from local favourite Shelby's Elbows and rock covers supergroup Double D Junior.
For those who like some food with their beer, there will be plenty to choose from, with stalls from the food festival offering grub across both days.
Organised by Bridport Round Table, this is its biggest fundraising event of the year. The proceeds from the festival go directly to supporting those in the local community who require assistance the most, and who often cannot get the help they need elsewhere.
The proceeds from last year’s event allowed Round Table to:
- Support The Bank of Dreams and Nightmares
- Support the West Dorset Motor Neurone Disease Association
- Donate a Beach Wheelchair to Bridport Town Council for use at West Bay
- Cover the cost of some gym equipment for a local playing field
- Purchase an accessible Bee Hive for school children
- Purchase specialist equipment for children with specialist needs
- Make various other donations to local schools and organisations
A spokesperson for the event said: "All of this is made possible by the paying visitors who willingly give up their free time to eat, drink, and listen to music, and by the overwhelming number of local businesses and organisations who sponsor the festival each year. It is truly a team effort, by the community, for the community."
Prices have been kept the same as last year. It will be £5 for a cup, beer bible and token and £2.50 per token afterwards. Each token can buy half a cup of beer or cider. Children go free.
