RESCUE teams from Lyme Regis were on hand to help a woman who had become semi-conscious on a beach.

Coastguard and lifeboat crews from Lyme were joined by Devon and Cornwall Police and Beer Coastguard to the incident on Haven Cliffs beach east of Axmouth at 11.27pm on Sunday, May 28.

The situation was made difficult due to the location and tide, rescue teams said.

Despite this, the woman was taken from the beach via lifeboat to Fishermans Gap in Seaton where they were passed into the care of the ambulance service.

"Tasked by Devon and Cornwall Police with Beer Coastguard and Lyme Regis RNLI to a semi-conscious casualty on Haven Cliffs beach," Lyme Regis Coastguard Rescue said on social media.

"Due to location and tide, lifeboat extracted casualty to Fishermans Gap, Seaton where casualty passed into care of South Western Ambulance Service."

Lyme Regis Lifeboat said it has now been called to 19 emergencies so far this year, including rescuing an injured walker from a Devon beach on Saturday.
