BRIDPORT have verbally agreed deals for all of their 2022/23 squad to remain at St Mary’s Field next season, boss Chris Herbst has revealed.

Herbst took over as manager in October after the sacking of previous boss Edgar Marcu.

He guided the Bees to 11th in the South West Peninsula League Premier East having undertaken a revamp of the playing personnel.

And he has already agreed terms with his players for next season, including a permanent deal for striker Brad Rowe who was previously dual-registered with Lyme Regis.

Jack Wright could be the only exit if his pre-season trial at Dorchester Town leads to an offer from the Magpies.

Speaking to the Bridport News, Herbst said: “Jack has been invited to go to Dorch in pre-season and if he doesn’t go he’ll stay with us.

“I’ve spoken to everyone else and they’re all staying, we just haven’t announced it.

“I’m happy, I know I’ve got everyone’s word. I know Kinger (Luke King) has had interest and Riley (Weedon) but they’re wanting to play here, so it’s good.”

Three new signings could also be on the way, with Herbst inviting a centre-back, right-back and a winger to train with the Bees later this summer.

However, Herbst would not reveal the trio’s identity.

“There’s three, I’m not going name names,” he insisted.

“They all sound very interested. We’ve got a plan ready for pre-season and the training will be top-notch.

“Once those players come in I think they’ll stay because training’s going to be better and I know Brad’s signing.

“To be honest, players have got to be Bridport first. When they’ve gone off and played for someone else, they’ve picked up knocks, come back and are not 100 per cent for us.

“If we want to have a real go and push as high as we can in the league, everyone’s got to be focused on Bridport.”
