A Bridport school has been rated ‘excellent’ following a recent inspection.
The report by SIAMS, the body that grades church schools, was full of praise for St Mary's School in Bridport throughout all its key findings.
Headteacher Kate Batorska said: “The report is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff, and the efforts of our pupils.
“We have a clear vision about building a caring community and everything stems from this.
“Christian values lead to a loving environment where children are able to learn and develop themselves.”
The report stated that ‘the vision of enabling all to learn and shine is emphatically seen in the outstanding provision for all.’
It was also noted that ‘St Mary’s is a beacon of inspiration and hope to its community, driven by its Christian vision.
The school has 209 pupils and has recently become part of Initio Learning Trust, which was created after a merger between Wimborne Academy Trust and Minerva Learning Trust.
Liz West, chief executive officer of Initio Learning Trust, said: “This is a fantastic report.
“Rarely do you see one as positive as this and I know staff there will continue to maintain the incredibly high standards they have set.”
The report went on to say, ‘the curriculum is infused with planned opportunities which deepen pupils’ spiritual flourishing.’
The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) is the Church of England and Methodist Church’s outworking of the requirements of section 48 of the Education Act 2005 and is a key element of the life of all Church of England and Methodist schools in England.
